Ali Huseynov: â€œThe meeting with Ethan Goldrich was not confidentialâ€

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev â€“ APA. Chairman of Azerbaijani parliamentâ€™s committee for legal policy and statehood Ali Huseynov spoke to APA about the details of some parliamentariansâ€™ meeting with Ethan Goldrich, Director of the Office of Caucasus Affairs and Regional Conflicts of the U.S. Department of State. Ali Huseynov said chairman of the parliamentâ€™s committee Samad Seyidov, chairman of Umid Party Igbal Agazadeh, chairman of the Democratic Reforms Party Asim Mollazadeh and MP from Musavat Nasib Nasibli also attended the meeting.
â€œNasib Nasibli gave common information about the meeting to media and noted that the meeting was more confidential. But the meeting did not take place in this format. It was a meeting of familiarization during dinner,â€ he said.

Ali Huseynov noted that they exchanged opinion with the American guest over the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. â€œBut at the same time, oppositionist parliamentarians criticized the situation of human rights and democracy in Azerbaijan. Samad Seyidov and I gave objective information to the US official about this issue. We informed that there is sustainable development in the field of human rights and democracy in Azerbaijan and political reforms are carried out successivelyâ€.

He said US official didnâ€™t make detailed comment on the issues. â€œIt is strange that Nasib Nasibli reportedly had confidential talks with the American guest about the democracy and human rights. After the meeting Nasib Nasibli had tete-a-tete meeting with the guest and may be they had confidential conversation during this meeting. This is specific feature of Azerbaijani opposition. I am noting once again that we discussed common issues at the meetingâ€.
