Azerbaijani parliamentarians raise issue of ex-presidentsâ€™ status

Baku. Elbrus Seyfullayev â€“ APA. Member of Azerbaijani parliament Fazil Mustafa proposed to adopt a law about the status of ex-presidents at the parliament session on Friday. According to APA, the lawmaker said this law should be adopted on the basis of amendments made to the Azerbaijani Constitution as a result of referendum held this year. Mustafa noted that despite that law on citizensâ€™ appeal right was expected it didnâ€™t take place. â€œUnfortunately these issues were not addressed. If it creates problem for the committee on legal policy and state-building we can elaborate these draft lawsâ€.

MP Zahid Oruj said that proposals for ex-presidentsâ€™ status had political intentions more. â€œOf course, the president should issue relevant order when this law is adopted. Then it will be clear what persons this law will cover. I am not supporting the idea to give this status to Ayaz Mutallibovâ€.
