II Global Shared Societies Forum kicks off in Baku

The second Global Shared Societies Forum to last 2 days is organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, the Club of Madrid, with support of the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Diaspora and with joint cooperation of World Academy of Art and Sciences, UN, Library of Alexandria,and other organizations.

About 200 famous social and political figures from 57 countries are attending the international Forum dedicated to sustainable development program of world in 2015 and beyond, APA reports.

Former heads of state and government are among the visitors.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Latvia's former President, co-chairman of Nizami Ganjavi International Center, vice-president of the Club Madrid Vaira Vike-Freiberga, co-chair of the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, Director of the Library of Alexandria Ismail Serageldin, former heads of state and government of Bulgaria, Serbia, Romania, Moldova, Israel and other countries are participating in the event.

The Forum Agenda includes discussion of scope and principles, economic basis of open societies, method of settlement of conflicts in complicated situations, need for multi-management and institutional framework for provision of sustainable development process and other important issues. During the discussions, special attention will be focused on practical work with internal economic growth policy, creating equal opportunities for high-quality education and other social services, strengthening women’s role in society. Role of natural resources and global borders in the direction of achieving sustainable development, pure technologies and combination of green energy are expected to be widely discussed.

The first session of the second Global Shared Societies Forum was held on May 6-8, 2013 in Baku.
