Relative of the hostages, Azerbaijani with Ukrainian citizenship, businessman Ramiz Gasimov told APA.
He said that firstly his elder brother Rovshan Gasimov, his wife and son, then his other brother’s son, 18-year-old Elvin Rasim oglu Gasimov were taken hostage: “We managed to free my brother Rovshan and his family thanks to the help of Ukrainian power structures. They’d been beaten. My other brother’s son Elvin is still in captivity. We’re not sure what might have happened to him. The militants haven’t yet demanded anything from us”.
Ramiz Gasimov said they are farmers in Donetsk.
First secretary for consular issues at Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine Asim Osmanov told APA that they had received the information about the incident: “Ramiz Gasimov himself called me up too. I learned about the current situation. The representative of the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry at our embassy has already been instructed about it and is currently trying to release Elvin Gasimov together with local power structures. We are taking all necessary measures and keeping in touch with the family”.
