Azerbaijani ambassador to Lithuania meets with Å iauliai city mayor

Baku – APA. Azerbaijani ambassador to Lithuania Hasan Mammadzadeh visited the city council of Šiauliai at the invitation of City Mayor Justinas Sartauskas.

During his meeting with Justinas Sartauskas, the Azerbaijani ambassador noted the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania, speaking of activities of the bilateral intergovernmental commission and the inter-parliamentary friendship group, the Azerbaijani embassy in Lithuania told APA.

Hasan Mammadzadeh also informed the mayor about Azerbaijan’s achievements in economic and social spheres in recent years.

In his turn, Justinas Sartauskas informed the ambassador about Šiauliai’s history, cultural monuments, and socio-economic state.

The sides also discussed the issue of signing a twinning agreement between Šiauliai and an Azerbaijani city. It was noted that such an agreement will possibly pave the way for building cooperation in almost all areas between the two cities.

The ambassador then held a meeting with members of the Šiauliai City Executive Committee, businessmen, representatives of the city’s public chamber and the industry confederation. The issue of economic cooperation was discussed at the meeting.

Hasan Mammadzadeh also met with Azerbaijanis living in Šiauliai, studied their problems. The ambassador recommended the creation of a union among our compatriots, adding that the embassy will render all necessary support to the formation and development of such a union.
