Washington. Isabel Levine – APA. This year US Azerbaijani and Turkish Diasporas will unite their efforts in order commemorate the massacre of Khojaly. According to APA’s Washington DC correspondent, on February 19 - 26, 2010, Azerbaijani-American Council (AAC), Azerbaijan Society of America (ASA), the Assembly of Turkish-American Associations (ATAA), and the Turkic Student Association at Berkeley (TSAB) will be partnering to organize the Khojaly Commemoration Week in the U.S.

During the same week in February, under the Pax Turcica Initiative, AAC, ASA and ATAA will also be conducting the joint community seminars for the upcoming 2010 U.S. Census.

In past years, AAC, ASA and TSAB spearheaded the annual Khojaly awareness activities in the U.S. In January 2009, the three groups launched a US-wide “Justice for Khojaly” awareness campaign to inform the American academic audience about this war crime from both legal and human rights perspectives.

Pax Turcica Initiative is an academic grassroots platform aimed to attract scholars, students and community groups for discussion and analysis of contemporary affairs in the Turkic-speaking nations.

Azeri and Turkish Diasporas will host Khojaly Discussion Panel & The Pax Turcica Census Workshop at the University of California Berkeley during February 19 - 26, 2010. They are also expected to hold a Khojaly Discussion Panel & The Pax Turcica Census Workshop at the Columbia University, New York during February 19 – 26.
