"With every investment we make in clean energy and decarbonization, we're paving a clearer path forward," Jennifer Granholm, US Energy Minister said this at the plenary session of the COP29 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Initiatives (Launch of the Global Energy Storage and Grids Provision), APA reports.
"I would like to express my thanks to the entire team of Azerbaijan for the hospitality and leadership you have shown this week. Each year, the COP serves to assess our ambitions in critical control of the clean energy transition for all of us.
We are keeping the US climate movement alive by taking every action available. The clean energy economy continues to grow. Now, the U.S. is projected to add more than 60 GW of clean energy to our grid in 2024, thanks to a strategy that lays the foundation for decades of climate and clean energy progress that will continue to grow faster than ever before. This is more than twice the amount achieved in a previous year. As a result of this industrial strategy, we have invested more than half a trillion dollars in clean technologies and infrastructure. The world currently invests twice as much in clean energy as in fossil fuels. Thus, the global fight for climate has never been about the United States government, it has been about all of us," the minister said.
