“We have worked with Azerbaijan on energy issues for a long time,” said Jennifer Granholm, US Secretary of Energy, during a press conference at COP29, APA reports.
“We are also a country that produces fossil fuels. Therefore, we are working on technologies that will reduce CO2 emissions and help the transition to clean energy. I know that this week, President of Azerbaijan announced 6 gigawatts of renewable energy, which is great. I think your potential is currently 8 gigawatts,” emphasized Granholm.
The US official also mentioned that Azerbaijan could become a clean energy exporter: “The result is that Azerbaijan is not only a clean energy user but could also be a clean energy exporter. This is a great opportunity and significant potential for Azerbaijan.”
