The second day of the 29th High-Level Meeting themed “Pathway to COP29: Sustainable and Resilient Future” organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center (NGIC) has started its work, APA reports.
On the second day of the meeting, the role of science, innovation, and technologies was discussed in the panel discussion.
Djoomart Otorbaev, Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan (2014-2015) speaking about China's potential and achievements in fields of innovations and technologies in his panel speech, noted that Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries should cooperate with China, as well as other partners in these sectors: " I know that Azerbaijan's priority is not only energy, it is also human capital, education, science and innovations."
UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, a member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) Nigar Arbadarai spoke about technology and the role of artificial intelligence and the opportunities it provides in her panel speech.
She stated that accessibility to advanced technologies should not be turned into a means of dominance, as it also complicates achieving success in combating climate change.
She expressed confidence that COP29, which Baku will host, will be inclusive.
Nigar Arpadarai said that various parties - media business, civil society - will participate in the process.
"As COP29's high-level champion for climate change appointed by the UN, my priority is active collaboration with the private sector. Alongside large corporations, we will work with small and medium-sized enterprises."
Petre Roman, Former Prime Minister of Romania (1989-1991) also spoke at the panel discussion.
He stated that in the past four decades, the Caspian Sea level has risen by up to 2 meters.
"The decrease in the Caspian Sea level is related to the decrease in the Volga River's water level, which in turn is related to reduced precipitation and climate warming," he said.
