Azerbaijan has committed to making COP29 a model event, COP29 President-Designate and Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev stated at a press conference of the COP29 Presidency, APA reports.
“We are striving to bring all parties together and to hear the voices of millions suffering from climate crises. They want immediate action. When we gather at COP29, we must keep these communities in focus and reflect on our shared commitments and moral obligations. We will convene in Baku in less than 140 days.”
He stated that the COP29 presidency has sent its first letter to partners:
“In that letter, we called for the acceleration of actions. We must achieve this successful outcome through networks and coordinated steps, considering all principles, our vision, the actions taken, and the key milestones. The COP29 presidency must be fair and responsible and work towards finalizing Article 6. We must also implement all our other priorities in harmony with the principle of ‘leaving no one behind’.”
“We aim to achieve sustainable development by incorporating the views of all climate pillars, global, regional, national, and other groups,” he added.
