“We should involve all sectors in the adaptation process,” said Elvin Ashrafzadeh, Lead Adaptation and Loss and Damage Negotiator for the COP29 Presidency during his speech at the panel "Understanding Adaptation, Risk and Resilience in the National Context" held on the second day of the Baku Climate Action Week (BACW), APA reports.
He said that another important element is social transformation: "Adaptation does not cover all periods. We need to assess the risks starting from health care, food industry, and construction. That is why COP29 is a very important step regarding with adaptation. After that, the parties can make commitments in what form they will implement the transformation. COP29 is also important for building this particular momentum. We have made commitments, and now action must be taken."
