"The United Kingdom welcomes the "Harmony" initiative during its COP29 presidency," UK's Environment Minister, Mary Creagh said during the event titled "From COP to COP: Agricultural-Industrial Complex Legacy: The Key to Achieving Global Climate Goals," APA reports.

"We must invest in ensuring water security as a necessary condition for the creation of healthy and sustainable food systems. However, we also need to implement policy reforms and ensure that subsidies are directed in ways that benefit people, the climate, and economies. Every year, governments allocate billions of dollars in support to the agriculture and food sectors, but we have solid evidence that current policies often create undesirable incentives that harm the environment and even disrupt food and nutrition security, economic growth, and livelihoods. I look forward to collaborating to meet the commitments made under the UAE Declaration, and I also look forward to working with Brazil, which we hope will lead the agenda on agriculture and climate change during COP30. Finally, I applaud the 'Harmony' initiative during the COP29 presidency, which is aimed at aligning our ambitions and increasing their overall impact," she said.
