Interview of Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision, Meder Mashiev, to APA
- How do you evaluate Azerbaijan's role in COP29?
- We highly appreciate Azerbaijan's role in organizing COP29. Our pavilion is set up here. The event has been organized at a very high level. We thank Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani government for organizing COP29 so successfully.
- As we know, the priority issue at COP29 is reaching a consensus on finance. What are your thoughts on this? Will it be possible to reach an agreement?
- We hope that this goal will be achieved at COP29. In the discussions here, all developed countries are presenting their positions on climate finance, and additional financing issues are also being discussed.
- How do you evaluate the cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan in the field of environmental protection and ecology?
- Azerbaijan is a brotherly country for us. We have multifaceted cooperation with Azerbaijan in environmental protection and ecology. Just a month ago, we signed a cooperation agreement with Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mukhtar Babayev. We are eager to develop further cooperation in this field.
- As a representative of Kyrgyzstan, what are your expectations from COP29?
- Kyrgyzstan is a mountainous country, and initiatives regarding mountain issues are growing. Today, representatives of mountainous countries have also gathered here. We have formed a resolution. A plenary session will be held on the last day of COP29, where technical consultations on mountain regions will take place.
