"In recent years, there has been growing attention to the contribution of space activities in addressing climate issues," Samaddin Asadov, the Chairman of the Board of Azerbaijan's Space Agency (Azercosmos), said at the World Space Leaders Summit held in Baku within the framework of COP29, APA reports.

He noted that the Summit would focus on aligning the positions of participating countries with the theme "Joint Efforts for Joint Climate Action: Partnership, Potential, and Data Sharing."

"We will also adopt the International Space-based Climate Action Commitment – COP29 Impact and Outcomes. This adoption is not just an official procedure. It also carries symbolic meaning and historical resonance, representing our collective commitment."

Asadov emphasized that space technology is not just a tool for exploration but is also deeply integrated with digital infrastructure, climate action, innovation, sustainability, and global connectivity.

"Space should not only be viewed as a tool but also as a bridge between science, technology, policy, and action. This summit provides an important opportunity to build stronger partnerships among space agencies, international organizations, governments, researchers, and the private sector," he added.
