Yesterday, as I mentioned in the plenary session, 2024 has been designated as the year of the climate crisis, John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the U.S. President for International Climate Policy, said at the Climate and Development Ministerial Conference held as part of PreCOP, APA reports.
He noted that the climate crisis is one of the main issues concerning the world: “As we speak here, Hurricane 'Milton' is causing damage in the U.S. In addition to taking urgent steps to reduce waste, we must also strengthen our response to climate disasters and work against future extreme weather conditions."
He also emphasized the need to support developing countries and small island developing states in managing and adapting to this crisis: “Financial support is the most critical issue in climate action.”
