If we look at the reports of international organizations, we see that recent developments in the statistics of progress do not paint a very encouraging picture, Head of the Department of Sustainable Development and Social Policy of the Ministry of Economy, Secretary of the National Coordinating Council for Sustainable Development Huseyn Huseynov said at the "Green Construction in Azerbaijan" event, APA-Economics reports.
He stated that in some calculations, the financial gap created by climate change is estimated to be 1 trillion dollars annually between 2020 and 2025: "It is forecasted that this figure will be approximately 1,4 trillion dollars between 2025 and 2030. Considering that climate change creates a financial gap of around 2.4-2.5 trillion dollars, it seems unlikely that this gap can be filled only by governments. Therefore, it is crucial to involve the private sector in the process of addressing this financial gap. The government must also make efforts in this regard. Our main focus is to establish this synergy with the private sector and direct the private sector towards bridging the financial gap, especially that created by climate and environmental issues."
