A Declaration on the establishment of a forum on climate-resilient villages has been signed, APA reports.
The Declaration was signed by Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov and Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Sadi Jafarov within the framework of the COP29.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov said that Turkic states have great influence and economic power on a global scale:
"Strengthening relations with the Organization of Turkic States is one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan's foreign policy. Our countries have great economic potential in the field of agriculture. Unfortunately, biodiversity loss, climate change, land degradation and water scarcity have a huge impact on our agro-food systems. We have a platform of agricultural ministries within the Organization, where we effectively cooperate and make decisions on how the Turkic states should combat these problems related to climate change and build effective partnerships accordingly. One of the initiatives we are promoting today is the launch of the Turkic States Organization of Climate Resilient Villages Forum. I am sure that this initiative will have a positive impact on our rural development policy and facilitate the well-being of the rural population."
