"The UK is committed to supporting the global south and developing the world's countries in deploying carbon management technologies to address the climate crisis they face," Kerry McCarthy, Minister for Climate in the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland said during COP29 Ministerial on Carbon Management, APA reports.
"We will continue to prioritize climate finance, which will help global countries plan for their impacts and support a transition to low-carbon economies. Specifically in the industrial decarbonization sector, the Clean Energy Innovation Facility Industrial Decarbonisation Fund delivered through the World Bank's ESMAP program aims to bring about real change in clean energy innovation in developing countries," he added.
The Minister added that this program will advance the development of clean energy technologies towards commercialization to provide greater energy security and emission reductions: "It will also increase in-country capacity and capability to support independent R&D activity and increase replication through sharing lessons learned. I would therefore encourage everyone present today to join the key forums for these conversations. Please take this chance to sign up to the CMC challenge and join the work streams. Join the Clean Energy Ministerial CCUS initiative and Mission Innovation CDR mission. It is only by sharing our knowledge and working together that we'll keep 1.5 degrees alive and achieve the scale needed to make a difference.
