Within the framework of the COP29 conference, a presentation event on the future of electric cars was organized by the Chinese company NIO in the Azerbaijan Pavilion, APA reports.
Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chief Executive Director of COP29 Elnur Soltanov, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Umayra Taghiyeva, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Environment of the People's Republic of China Zhao Yinmin, Chairman of the Management Board of the COP29 Operating Company and Chief Executive Officer for Operations Narmin Jarchalov participated in the event.
Elnur Soltanov, who opened the event with an introductory speech, said that the world will gradually switch from fossil fuel-powered cars to electric cars, just as the world is switching from traditional phones to smart phones.
Later, the Chinese deputy minister expressed his wishes for the successful completion of COP29. He noted that China has taken active steps in the field of climate change, and is active in the production of electric cars for global use: "China produced more than 10 million electric cars last year and ensured its leadership in this field in the world."
Later, a green car cooperation agreement was signed between Azerbaijan's "GreenCar" and China's NIO company.
It should be noted that the NIO company, founded in 2014 in Shanghai, China, is engaged in the production of sustainable, smart electric cars.
