Today, Azerbaijan Railways Chairman Rovshan Rustamov participated in discussions held as part of Baku Climate Action Week and spoke about Azerbaijan Railways' efforts in combating climate change, the company told APA-Economics.
In his speech, Rovshan Rustamov highlighted that the railway sector has set a target to reduce carbon emissions by 40% by 2050. To achieve this, the use of renewable energy sources, including solar panels, has been expanded, leading to a 9% reduction in emissions by Azerbaijan Railways last year.
The Chairman also mentioned that as a next step, infrastructure upgrades are carried out in railways through the implementation of energy efficiency and electrification technologies.
