Russia condemns terrorist attacks in Iraq

Baku-APA. Moscow condemned the latest round of terrorist attacks in Iraq and sided with Baghdad in countering the terrorist threats, Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Russia urged all political forces in Iraq to reach a national accord and to refuse violence as a tool to attain political objectives, while striving hard to solve long-standing problems of Iraq with peaceful means, said the Russian ministry in a statement on its website.

All these problems must be solved through wide and constructive dialogue which should take into consideration the interests of all political, ethnical and religious groups in Iraq, said the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Up to 26 people were killed and more than 100 others injured in a new wave of bombings across Iraq Wednesday, on the eve of the Islamic new year, which fell on Thursday this year.

Observers see Wednesday's attacks as part of an attempt by the insurgent groups in Iraq to show that they are capable of carrying out coordinated and high-profile attacks that could undermine the government's claims of providing security to Iraqis.
