Moscow – APA. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the country will only lift its objections to U.S. anti-missile radar in the Czech Republic if Russian observers are permanently posted at the facilities, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti. Lavrov said they had reached a verbal agreement with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and U.S. Secretary of Defense Robert Gates to check the facilities regularly. But later the document presented by the US did not cover the issue.
The agreement to station a U.S. tracking radar in the Czech Republic was signed on July 8 by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg.
