CIS summit takes place in Bishkek

Baku. Lachin Sultanova â€“APA. President of Kyrgyzstan hosts the summit of Commonwealth of the Independent States (CIS) in his palace in Bishkek. Azerbaijanâ€™s Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh is participating at the summit attended by the leaders of nine countries, APA reports. 21 issues, including CIS economic development strategy until 2020 as a prior issue, were included in the summitâ€™s agenda.
The CIS leaders will discuss determination of energy sphere as a leading field of CIS cooperation in 2009, as well as declaring 2009 as a â€œYear of Youthâ€, preparation for 65th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War and social aid to the veterans.
The presidents will hold restricted and large meetings. Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Belarus and Uzbekistan will also hold the intergovernmental meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union Council within the framework of the CIS summit. The leaders of Central Asian countries are planning to hold their private meeting this evening.
