Bishkek – APA. “Georgia’s leaving CIS will not have negative consequences for the organization. Georgia’s membership of CIS in the past few years aimed at the erosion of the Commonwealth,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, APA reports. He said that at the meeting of CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council Ukraine had not expressed his intention to leave the organization.
“The statements that Kiev was thinking of leaving CIS did not come true. Ukrainian delegation was too active while discussing procedures of CIS structures’ work. We have come to the conclusion that Ukraine intends to activate its work within CIS,” he said.
Technical decision was made at Bishkek meeting of CIS Foreign Ministers’ Council on Georgia’s leaving the Commonwealth of Independent States.
