American expert to investigate March events in Armenia

Yerevan â€“APA. An American expert will be involved in the parliament commissionâ€™s investigation of March events in Yerevan. General prosecutor of the country Agvan Ovsepyan said the American expert would arrive in Yerevan soon, APA reports. â€œFormer New Jersey prosecutor will arrive in Yerevan under the guidance of US embassy in Armenia to investigate March 1-2 events. He expected to advise the investigative groupâ€. US charge dâ€™affairs in Armenia Joseph Pennington noted that both sides negotiated involving of foreign experts in the investigation of March events, but so far no US expert was involved in the investigation.
Supporters of presidential candidate Levon Ter-Petrosyan held open-ended protest actions in Yerevan against the announcing of Serzh Sargsyanâ€™s victory in the presidential elections. A lot of civilians were killed and hundreds injured during the clashes between police and protesters early March. Police arrested more than 100 opposition supporters.
