Russia officially delivered military base in Akhalkalaki to Georgia, APA reports. Georgian Deputy Defense Minister Levan Nikoleshvili and commander of Russian troops in Transcaucasia, General Major Andrey Popov signed the agreement on delivering.
The military base in Akhalkalaki was established in 1910. There are 196 buildings in 128 ha area of the base. The base’s infrastructure is for 15,000 people. Popov said that the base in Akhalkalaki was to be delivered to Georgia on October 1, 2007, but it happened earlier. The base in Batumi will be delivered to Georgia by the end of 2008. /APA/
