European Court for Human Rights satisfies Georgian journalist’s suit

European Court for Human Rights satisfied claim of the official of Georgian Meridiani 44 newspaper Nana Gorelishvili against Saakashvili government, APA reports.
The decision on satisfying of the claim was adopted on June 5, 2007.
Georgian government’s violating article 10 (freedom of opinion) of European Convention is shown in the decision. Georgian government was sentenced to pay € 1500 indemnity to the journalist.
Georgian local court fined the journalist for criticizing senior officials of the country. And the journalist appealed to European Court for Human Rights from the decision of the court. /APA/
