Georgian MPs: Issue on David Garedji cloister remains open

Deputy foreign minister of Georgia, chief of the commission on delimitation and demarcation of state borders Georgy Manchgaladze informed Parliament’s opposition factions about the situation regarding the issue on David Garedji cloister, APA Georgia’s bureau reports. The deputy minister’s meeting with the representatives of the opposition is close. Representatives of Foreign Ministry, Border Police and Georgian religious circles attended the meeting.
One of the leaders of Democratic front faction Zviad Dzidziguri told the APA’s local bureau that the government had told them that opposition will be informed of the negotiations.
“The main thing is to solve the border-related problems in line with Georgia’s interests,” he said.
Georgy Manchgaladze briefing journalists before the meeting said that the representatives of the opposition will be informed of the talks on delimitation of borders with Azerbaijan. He said that the next meeting of Azerbaijani-Georgian delimitation commission will be held in July-August. Close meeting continued for two hours, the parliamentarians told journalists after the meeting that issue regarding David Garedji cloister remains unsolved. They said that the sides should make a decision which will satisfy both countries. Parliamentarians said that Foreign Minister Gela Bejuashvili should also make a report in the Parliament regarding scandal rose on David Garedji cloister. /APA/
