Member of parliament’s Democratic Front faction Zviad Dzidziguri appealed to Foreign Ministry and asked to comment on Mikhail Saakashvili’s statements about David Garechi monastery, APA Georgian bureau reports.
The parliamentarian said that Saakashvili’s statement “Georgia will own David Garechi monastery entirely and Azerbaijan uplands of strategic importance,” is not clear.
“The main parts of David Garechi monastery, as well as the church are situated in the uplands of strategic importance for Azerbaijan. How could it be possible that uplands of strategic importance will be given to Azerbaijan and Georgia will own the monastery entirely? No one can clarify his statements.
Foreign Ministry said that they do not know what the President meant. State Border Protection Department said the same,” he said.
Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said the two countries reached an agreement on David Garechi monastery. He said that the commissions on delimitation of borders will have a meeting soon.
“Georgia will own David Garechi monastery entirely and Azerbaijan uplands of strategic importance,” he said.
Saakashvili did not publicize the areas concretely. /APA/
