Police Detain 20 in Downtown Moscow

Baku-APA. Police have detained around 20 activists in downtown Moscow on Tuesday, the Interior Ministry reported, APA reports quoting RIA Novosti.

â€œA group of citizens planned to organize a provocation in the center of the capital. Information on the event was posted in certain social networks. The attempt to disrupt law and order in the city was stopped,â€ the ministry said.

â€œSeveral people gathered near Pushkinskaya Square, where they were promptly detained by Moscow police officers,â€ it said. â€œAbout 20 people were brought to police stations.â€

The events follow Mondayâ€™s authorized opposition rally against Prime Minister and president-elect Vladimir Putinâ€™s election on Sunday for a third non-consecutive term in office that turned into an unsanctioned demonstration resulting in the detention of about 250 people.
