Famous Names Lined Up to Test Sochi Bobsled Run

Baku-APA. Olympic bronze medalist Elana Meyers is among a host of international bobsled and skeleton atheletes who will test the Sochi Olympic run in Russia, Russian national luge and bobsled coach Oleg Sokolov told RIA Novosti, APA reports quoting en.rian.ru website.

Meyers came third in the world championships in Lake Placid on Wednesday as a driver with brakeman Katie Eberling, who will also test the Sochi track, .

Athletes from 13 countries will take part in the tests between March 4 and 10, watched by dignitaries from the sportâ€™s international governing body, led by FIBT president Ivo Ferriani.

The Russian national squad has been drafted in to help, in the shape of the bobsled crew of Alexandra Zubkova, Alexandra Kasyanova, Olga Fedorova and Anastasia Tambovtseva, as well as skeleton athletes Alexander Tretkov, Sergei Chudinov, Maria Orlova and Svetlana Vasileva.

Sochi beat the Austrian city of Salzburg and South Korean city of Pyonchang to host the 2014 Winter Olympics in a close contest in 2007.
