Baku-APA. Belarus will pay 164 U.S. dollars per 1,000 cubic meters for Russian gas in the first quarter of 2012, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Friday.

After a meeting with Belorussian Prime Minister Alexander Lukashenko, Putin told reporters that the so-called "integration discount" on Russian gas will save "no less than 2 billion dollars for the Belorussian economy."

"As the average gas price is about 400 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters for European buyers, Belarus will buy gas at 164 dollars per 1,000 cubic meters in the first quarter (in 2012)," Putin said.

He noted that the two countries also agreed on the rescheduling of Belarus’ gas debts in 2011 due to the economic difficulties in Belarus.

In addition, Russia will grant a loan of up to 10 billion dollars to Belarus for building a nuclear power plant in the country.
