Victor Yanukovych rejects Naftogaz-Gazprom merger

Baku â€“ APA-Economics. Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovych said Kiev was not interested in a merger of Ukraineâ€™s Naftogaz with Russiaâ€™s Gazprom to reach concession in purchase of Russian gas. He said the issue was not on agenda, APA-Economics reports.
While Russian-Ukrainian gas disputes, Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov said they were looking for restructuring Naftogaz Company and review all agreements again. Russian Prime Ministerâ€™s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said reviewing agreements could be only after the Naftogaz-Gazprom merger. He said legal heir of the restructured company should to fulfill commitments before Russia.
Russia and Ukraine dispute over Kievâ€™s intention to reduce gas purchase from Moscow to 27 billion cubic meters. Gazprom says that agreements obliged Ukraine to pay for 33 billion cubic meters a year not depending on the volume of gas it purchases.
