Ukrainian opposition urges Ukrainians for rallies to support Tymoshenko

Baku-APA. First deputy leader of Ukraine’s opposition "Batkivschina" party Alexander Turchinov urged Ukrainians on Friday for the mass protest rallies to support its leader and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko who was arrested earlier in the day, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"If hundreds of people will take part in the rallies -- Ukraine will loose, but if millions Ukrainians start active protests, Ukraine may get a new genuine people’s government in September," Turchinov said.

The "Batkivschina" official said the party intended to appeal the Pechersk Court decision to the state appellate court as soon as Saturday.

Tymoshenko was arrested on Friday after a judge ruled she had systematically violated court rules. Unrests erupted in Ukrainian capital after the ruling. Several hundred people gathered at Ukrainian capital’s central street Khreshchatyk to support the opposition leader.
