Ship with 199 persons on board sinks in Tatarstan, 79 people rescued, 9 bodies found

The ship was sailing from the town of Bulgar to Kazan. Bad weather, mechanical failure on the aged craft and overcrowding have all been cited as possible reasons why the boat sank.
The rescuers of the Russian Emergency Ministry were attracted to the site. Tatarstan’s Emergency Ministry said that 79 people were rescued, the bodies of 9 persons were wound yanked out of the water. Many children were in the ship. Children are also among dead. Many people are considered missing.
