Baku-APA. Moscow offered president of unrecognized “Republic of Transnistria” Igor Smirnov not to participate in the upcoming “presidential elections” in exchange for security guarantee. APA reports quoting “Kommersant” newspaper that the security guarantee will also concern Smirnov’s family and business.

Despite it, Smirnov actively continues the election campaign. Moscow wants to see Anatoly Kaminsky at the post of the republic’s leader. The ruling “United Russia” repeatedly announced that they supported Kaminsky.

Yesterday Moscow hosted negotiations in “5+2” format for the settlement of Transnistrian problem. The European Union and U.S. joined the negotiations as observers, Russian and Ukraine as guarantors of peaceful settlement.
The document on principles of dialog process between Moldova and Transnistria is being discussed in the negotiations.
