Baku-APA. At least two persons were killed and 10 others were injured on Wednesday evening in a suicide attack during a football match in Pakistan's northwestern tribal region of Kurram Agency, local media reported, APA reports quoting Xinhua.
According to the reports, the incident took place when two militants opened indiscriminate fire at players and spectators during the football match in the Alizai area in Kurram Agency, the Pakistani tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
One of the attackers blew himself up by detonating his explosive jacket in the ground while his companion was shot dead by the security personnel guarding on the ground.
Two civilians watching match were killed while 10 others including a security personnel were injured in the attack.
Around 100 people were watching the match between two local teams when the terrorists attacked.
Security forces and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies and injured to the civil hospital in Alizai.
Death toll may further rise as some of the injured were in critical condition at the hospital.
Alizai is an area dominated by Shia Muslims and is also known for sectarian unrest. All the victims reportedly belonged to Shia Muslims community.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemned the attack and expressed the government's resolve to continue war against terrorism.
