Russia suspends its participation in PACE until end of this year

Russia is suspending its participation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) till the end of the year, Russian delegation head Alexei Pushkov said after PACE had decided to strip Russia of the right to vote and take part in the Assembly’s governing bodies until April 2015.

"Russian delegation will boycott the PACE during 2015, " said head of the Russian delegation at the PACE Vladimir Pushkov, APA’s European bureau reports.

Pushkov said it did not matter if the Russian delegation’s right were suspended till April of till June, as has been initially planned.

"We will boycott the PACE during the entire 2015," said Pushkov

Regarding the call by the PACE on the release of Ukrainian deputy Nadia Savchenko, he noted that the PACE rejected dialogue with Russia. "Calls from the organization that does not cooperate with us do not have any importance for us," said V.Pushkov.
