Ceremony held in Turkey to mark Canakkale Victory centenary - <span style="color: red;">PHOTOSESSION  - <span style="color: red;">UPDATED

Canakkale. Mayis Alizade-APA. Commemorations to mark centenary of Gallipoli battle were held in Turkey.

 

 

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has attended the ceremony, APA’s bureau in Turkey reports.

 

 

Heads of 21 states, officials from over 70 states and representatives of the international organizations attended the ceremony in Canakkale.

 

 

During the ceremony, wreaths were laid at a memorial for the fallen Turkish soldiers (Mehmetchik) at Gallipoli, a gun salute was fired and Turkish flag was raised after a minute of silence. 

 

 

The President of the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Turkey Mehmet Gormez prayed for martyrs of Canakkale battle, expressed peace and brotherhood messages. Christian cleric also prayed for those who lost their lives in this battle.

 

 

Then President Recep Tayyip ErdoÄŸan made a speech at the commemoration along with Britain's Prince Charles.

 

The heir to the British throne Prince Charles spoke during the ceremony and noted that peoples from a number of states were involved in this battle.

 

A band performed Turkish military marches. Parades were demonstrated by Armed forces of Turkey and allied states including the UK, France and New Zealand. Then Turkish hawks (jets) have made manoeuvres in the sky.

 

Participating heads of the states signed Martyr’s notebook at the “Mehmetcik” memorial after visiting tombs of soldiers, died in Galllipoli campaign.

A ceremony kicked off in Turkey to mark the 100th anniversary of the Victory in the Battle of Canakkale.

 

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is attending the ceremony.

 

The ceremony is attended by the presidents of 21 countries, including government heads and ministers of different countries.

 

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Britain`s Prince Charles first laid wreaths at the memorial erected in honor of the Turkish martyrs, and then the national anthem of Turkey was played.

 

Following the ceremony, a gala dinner will be hosted on the yacht “Savarona” on behalf of the Turkish president for heads of state and government, and delegation heads.
