Draitser made the comments in an interview with Press TV on Thursday when asked about whether the US plans to expand the fight against the ISIL worldwide.
“There is a complex web of interrelated geopolitical interests that are at play here,” said Draitser, founder of Stopimperialism.com. “For the United States of course and its ally Israel this is also part of the long proxy war against Iran.”
He went on to say that “the United States uses the Islamic States as a pretext for transformation and re-branding of what once was called the global war on terror.”
He described the war as an “open-ended long war with no definable objectives, no strategic objectives, (and) no benchmarks”, saying this “is essentially a cash cow for the US military industrial complex providing the ability for the US and the imperial system… to continue military adventurism abroad for the foreseeable future.”
“The United States and its allies are going to use the ISIS as a pretext to execute a political and geo-political agenda,” he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks he said “there are two strategic allies in the region who want to direct the US imperial machine towards their own ends.”
“On the one hand, you have Saudi Arabia which wants to execute its agenda throughout the Middle East in order to not only further its hegemony in the Arabian peninsula but to expand its influence throughout the Middle East and North Africa,” he stated.
The other is Egypt that is trying to brand the ISIL as its enemy and “direct the US and its allies to essentially do Egypt’s dirty work for it,” Draitser opined.
The ISIL terrorists, who were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government, now control large parts of Syria and Iraq.
The Western-backed ISIL group has been carrying out horrific acts of violence such as public decapitations and crucifixions against all communities such as Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians.
