WHO chief calls for $30.3 million in aid to five Middle East countries

Five countries affected by the conflict in the Middle East require urgent assistance totaling $30.3 million to maintain their healthcare systems, said World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, APA reports.

"WHO is calling for urgent support for health systems affected by conflict in the Middle East in five countries: Lebanon, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, the Syrian Arab Republic and Jordan," he wrote in H.

WHO experts estimate the urgent needs of these countries at $30.3 million. According to the organization, these funds are required, among other things, to ensure countries are prepared for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear emergencies.
