Turkish President receives delegation that met with PKK leader

Erdoğan has received the delegation that met with the PKK leader, APA's Istanbul correspondent reports.

President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has received the delegation of the DEM Party.

Erdoğan has received Pervin Buldan, the MP from Van of the DEM Party, and Sırrı Süreyya Önder, the MP from Istanbul.

The meeting was attended by National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Director Ibrahim Kalın and AK Party Deputy Chairman Efkan Ala.

This is the first meeting of the country’s leader with the leaders of the DEM Party.

The leadership of the DEM Party has held talks with PKK leader Abdullah Ojalan on Imralı Island.

Note that some time ago, the imprisoned leader of the PKK terrorist organization, Abdullah Ojalan made a call to his supporters. In a written statement released on behalf of Ojalan there was a call to "lay down arms."

Recall that PKK leader Abdullah Ojalan has been held in Imralı prison for 26 years. He was captured in February 1999 in Kenya as a result of an operation by the National Intelligence Organization and brought to Türkiye. Although he was sentenced to death, the verdict was later commuted to life imprisonment.
