The head of the ISIS-K cell responsible for the deadly bombing of Kabul airport in 2021 that killed 13 US troops and scores of Afghan civilians, has been killed by the Taliban, the New York Times said, citing United States officials, APA reports.
The ISIS-K leader was described as "the mastermind" of the attack, which involved a suicide bomber detonating an explosive device from within the crowds at the Abbey Gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport during the US withdrawal from the country.
A senior Biden administration official reportedly confirmed to ABC News that Washington did not coordinate with the Taliban in the killing of the ISIS-K leader.
