The Taiwanese defense department on Tuesday said it detected 91 aircraft and 12 ships of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China in the vicinity of the island,APA reports citing Teletrader.
Among the detected objects were Chinese fighters, bombers, radar reconnaissance aircraft, and a drone, according to the official announcement. Reportedly, 54 of the aircraft crossed the median line of the Taiwan Strait and ended up in the southwestern and southeastern sectors of its air defense identification zone.
The news comes after Beijing last week conducted drills encircling the disputed island.
