South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said on Friday that the military salvaged a part of North Korea's failed rocket meant to carry a reconnaissance satellite into orbit, APA reports citing Yonhap.
The wreckage is believed to be the second stage of the rocket and was recovered from the Yellow Sea.
The JCS expects that an analysis of the rocket part could indicate the level of North Korea's technical development. Search continues for other parts, "including the third stage and a purported satellite."
