Pakistan has предложed to Iran and the United States to establish a joint patrol mechanism in the Strait of Hormuz to regulate maritime traffic, during talks held in Islamabad between Tehran and Washington.
According to a Pakistani government source cited by Al Jazeera, the proposal was put forward by the Pakistani delegation as part of efforts to ensure secure and orderly navigation through the strategic waterway.
“The Pakistani delegation proposed regulating shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The proposal includes the establishment of joint patrols in the strait,” the source said.
The talks between Iran and the United States aimed at resolving ongoing tensions were held in Islamabad on Saturday, April 11. Negotiations are expected to continue on April 12.
