“It would not be right to put all the responsibility of Turkey's failure to purchase Patriot missile from the US on ex-US President Barack Obama. Because after Trump's presidency, our appeals on Patriot missions have remained with no response unsatisfied for two years,” said Mevlut Cavusoglu, Turkish Foreign Minister, APA’s Turkey bureau reports.
The Minister emphasized that they highly appreciated the statement of Donald Trump made at the G20 summit regarding Turkey was obliged to purchase S-400 Zenit-rocket complex from Russia because of its failure purchasing Patriot missions: “It was also important that Trump emphasized this issue at a press conference. True, everything will not be as Trump said. Turkey is cautious and follows the processes.”
Turkish FM also commented on the ideas regarding Turkey are not going to use the S-400s: “This is not an attack system but a defense system. Therefore, the complex should be held in reserve. Whenever there will be a threat to Turkey, then it will be used. It should not be used in vain after paying so much money.
