Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday as part of a Gulf tour focusing on energy security, a source in her office said, APA reports citing CNN.
“This is the first visit to the region by a leader of the EU, G20, and NATO since the beginning of the conflict, with meetings scheduled with key representatives of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates,” the source said. “The goal is to strengthen relations with these nations and reaffirm Italy’s support in the face of Iranian attacks, while consolidating an increasingly strong strategic partnership.”
“The mission also aims to strengthen national energy security: the Gulf represents a crucial source of oil and gas for Italy and plays a decisive role in global energy prices,” the source added.
