Iraqi protesters who support cleric Moqtada al-Sadr stormed the building of the country's parliament located in Baghdad's Green Zone on Wednesday, APA reports citing Teletrader.
According to sources, the demonstrators were protesting against the Iran-backed rival bloc's nomination of Mohammed Shiya al-Sudani for prime minister.
Iraqi lawmakers have failed to agree on appointments of a president and prime minister after October's election, marking a record 290 days without the head of state and government for the Middle Eastern. Al-Sadr won a majority in the election and promised to form a government with several Sunni and Kurdish blocs and exclude pro-Iran Shia blocs.
