Iran has sent a note to the International Maritime Organization (IMO), calling on it to condemn Ukraine's attack on an Iranian commercial vessel in the Caspian Sea, APA reports.
According to a document published on the organization's website, Iran requested the UN specialized agency to assess Ukraine's attack on the Iranian vessel as a serious threat to maritime security, commercial shipping, and the safety of seafarers.
The document states that Iran reserves the right to respond to this act in accordance with international law and that Ukraine must bear full international responsibility for the attack.
It should be recalled that on July 25, Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Ukraine had struck an Iranian commercial vessel sailing in Russian territorial waters in the Caspian Sea, killing one crew member. Later, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said during a phone call with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha that Kyiv must compensate for the damage caused to the Iranian vessel.
